Illustraion Friday

Scattered
This word made me think of emotions, because everyone experiences 'scattered' emotions. The girl represents confusion, that's why she is holding her head in her hands.
I stained white paper with tissue paper to create the coloured background. Each colour represents an emotion;
- Yellow: joy, happiness, intellect and energy
- Green: growth, harmony, freshness and fertility
- Blue: trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth and heaven
-Purple: wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery and magic - Red: energy, danger, strength, power. determination, as well as passion, desire and love (I made sure this colour is represented most in my illustration, by making it the colour of the girls tee.)

Fuel
For this word I mainly thought about energy, and I came up with the idea of a cupcake :P
For this illustration I made the cupcake out of mixed media. I tea stained the paper, then for each layer of the cake I used a different media.
For the case of the bun I shaped newspaper, then sewed the creases, adding ribbon at the end for an extra touch and also stuffed the case with cotton wool to make it look 3D like.
I then added balls of cotton wool as one layer of icing, and for the rest of the icing I drew it in oil pastels and finished off with a little glitter.
Finally, for the 'cherry on top' I sewed on a button which I had to paint red.

Scary
This word makes me think of monsters, so i chose to do one of the most recognisable characters out there, VAMPIRE!!!! With vampires i think of blood....
The whole picture is mounted on brown paper, and to create the bloody hand background i used red acrylic paint then just used my hand to apply. For the actual vampire, i used fine liner to outline, grey and white chalk pastel for the skin and shadows and then ink for the black hair. I also used watercolour paints for the blood on her hand and face.

 Stripes
This weeks word is stripes. I struggled to come up with something really original for this. word and so came up with a design that would most possibly pop up into majority of peoples minds - zebra. Because l lacked on the originality of this word l wanted to make my drawing humorous. Hopefully my picture is funny. Lol!
For this illustration I used biro but painted the stripes in the word because biro was not an effective media to use in large quantities.

Silent
For this word I used a photograph of my friend Sophie (because she's a loud mouth lol) and edited so it looked like she has her mouth covered. I used the watercolour effect to make it look subtle.

Vanity
For this piece I used Watercolour pints and Fineline marker. This word makes me think of women in the Victorian era, when wealthy women were of high fashion and took time with how they looked.

Round
For this word I decided to draw a round, fat cow, muching on food. I used oil pastels for the actual cow and for the background I used watercolour paints.

Brigade
For this word i drew a 'brigade' of bees. The materials I used were maker pen and coloured crayon.

Sink
For this word i decided to draw a mermaid 'sinking' deeper to reach the sea bed. I used Photoshop to produce the whole image.
